Holy Family Post Primary to close to students on the 28th May 2021.
In reference to Minister Foley’s announcement regarding the Leaving Certificate 2021, our post primary section will close to students for the summer break on 28th May.
This is to allow time for staff to conclude the work related to Leaving Certificate & Leaving Certificate Applied assessments 2021.
The other sections of the school: Early Intervention and Primary will remain open as per the School Calendar/holiday list 2020/21.

Our Primary School took part in the Irish National Anthem in ISL Competition organised by Bishopstown School, Cork. It was a great experience for them, all were delighted with their Certificates received. Have a look at their video they entered for the competition. Well Done to all!

Well done to all our students who entered into the JCSP Libraries SPACE ART competition. Our students really enjoyed the artist video tutorials provided by JCSP on YouTube. This is a fantastic ART Competition on ‘SPACE ART’ and a great opportunity for our students to show off their artistic skills. This competition is open to all students JUNIOR AND SENIORS. Best of luck to all who took part. Thank you to Kathleen Moran from JCSP Libraries for organising this Art Competition.
Check out the Artist Video Tutorials at the end!

Message from Principal Eimear O’Rourke in relation to the Campaign to prevent the loss of on-site Speech & Language Therapy.
I am pleased to report very good news! The HSE has confirmed in writing that a speech and language therapist will be assigned from the Cabra/Grangegorman CDNT (Children’s Disability Network Team) to work directly on-site with all children in the Holy Family School during the school day and term time. The HSE also stated that the medium to longer-term goal is to support the pupils with further therapeutic interventions (such as Occupational Therapy OT & Psychology) from the CDNT Interdisciplinary team.
I am also delighted to report that Deirdre Cunningham will continue as our Speech and Language Therapist. We greatly value Deirdre’s commitment to Holy Family and her highly expert support for our pupils, staff and parents/guardians.
I would sincerely like to thank everyone who supported this successful campaign. Special thanks are due to our parents/guardians who wrote many, many letters to the HSE, political representatives and signed and shared the petition. This greatly helped to win hearts and minds and to especially convince Minister Anne Rabbitte of the impact the loss on site SLT would have on our pupils. Grateful thanks to parents Daire Lyons, Siobhan Corcoran & Colin Maher who willing spoke to the media on the issue.
Sincere thanks to our local Senator Marie Sherlock, who worked tirelessly in support of our cause and the political representatives who took the time to advocate on our behalf to the HSE and the relevant ministers.
We now look forward to working with our local CDNT, HSE to ensure that our pupils receive all the additional supports necessary to enable them to reach their full potential.

Great breakthough for our school today! The HSE have given a clear commitment that we will retain our on-site Speech & Language therapy service.
We look forward to receiving the letter of confirmation from senior HSE management.
A huge thank you to Minister Anne Rabbitte for all her support which has led to a positive outcome for our pupils, parents and staff.

Dear Golfers,
I am emailing you to inform you of the update regarding our Golf Classics Fundraiser 2021 in aid of Holy Family School for the Deaf. Due to the current lockdown, we, unfortunately, have to postpone the Golf Classic on the 9th of April 2021 to Friday the 10th of September 2021. We like to apologise for this delay and thank you for your patience and support for our school. If this date does not suit you and you like a refund, please let us know. If you are happy with this new date, we can carry forward your deposit for the 10th of September. It will be a great event for all to enjoy.
We will let you know if any changes closer to the date,
Please keep safe and well,
Thank you,

Principal Eimear O’Rourke was notified by the HSE that due to the re-organisation of services for children with special needs, Holy Family is to lose our in-school Speech & Language Therapist.
Our Speech & Language Therapist is funded by the HSE and has working in the school for over 10 years.
Her work is very important in supporting our pupils to development language both ISL and speech. She is the only SLT in Ireland who has the competence to carry out specific Irish Sign Language assessments for Deaf students who communicate through ISL.
All pupils need SLT support at some stage during their time in Holy Family. Our SLT also works closely with our teachers and parents.
Under the new HSE Model of support our pupils must go outside the school to access Speech & Language Therapy. Only 6/140 will access this support close to the school – from the local Children’s Disability Network Team CDNT. All other children must get this support close to their home address- i.e. in their own local HSE primary care centre.
This loss is huge for our school because:
The Campaign must continue until the HSE give a commitment that they will continue to fund an in-school SLT for Holy Family.
Thank you for your support to date. I will keep you updated and informed on our progress.
